We recently secured a $375,000 settlement for a client who tripped and fell on an exterior step while exiting a veterinarian's office in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. The client lost her balance while stepping down from a tall single step at the side entrance of her vet's office. The step was too tall, improperly sloped, and lacked a handrail. The client sustained a broken shoulder requiring surgery in addition to a lower back injury. We retained a construction and safety expert who performed a site inspection and ultimately concluded the step was in violation of multiple building codes and ultimately the code violations led to the client's fall and resulting injuries. The insurance company agreed to settle the case after we completed our investigation and provided our evidence and expert report in order to avoid a lawsuit.
